Brad Kaaya, Deshaun Watson, Deshone Kizer are the locked in top three QBs this year. I don’t see anything different between this class and last year’s class of Goff, Wentz, and Lynch. There is only one long term successful QB of those six I just listed. That’s Paxton Lynch. The Rams and Eagles forced themselves into the top two by giving up their future for Goff and Wentz. It honestly made no sense then, and it still makes the same amount of sense now.
Wentz has looked good but he is not under any circumstance going to sustain this for his whole career. The Eagles organization gave up far too much and traded away Sam Bradford in the process. Bradford is leading the Vikings to a 5-0 record this season and they are showing no signs of slowing down. Couldn’t the Eagles have kept him while continuing the rebuild of their team? They should have. What the Browns did in this deal is awesome and have set themselves up for a bright future. The bright future isn’t going to be found with taking a QB in the top three or in all likelihood, the number one selection.
Forcing a QB with the top pick just doesn't make sense in this upcoming draft. The Browns did it the right way by stockpiling picks on picks to go into the future with hope. They have two firsts in the draft this year. That is key. Not taking a QB with either of tem is the right way to do it.
The Browns should take Myles Garrett, who is the best player in the draft without a question. You watch him play and you are just taken on a journey. He is so good at what he does and is going to be the next JJ Watt, but he’ll show up in big games. Jabrill Peppers would also be a better pick than Kaaya, Watson, or Kizer. Peppers can play running back, cornerback, safety, and even linebacker. He should play a safety-linebacker hybrid in the NFL and that is what the Browns could use. Peppers or Garrett absolutely has to be the pick if they get the number one selection.
Desmond King would absolutely the guy if they take the best player in the draft, Garrett. King is a top CB prospect in this class. Get him on the other side of Joe Haden and the Browns have something special.
Now, The 2018 draft is where the Browns should get their franchise QB who will finally turn their franchise around. Josh Rosen or Jake Browning. These two are studs and will be the best QB prospects since the Winston draft. Cleveland will be picking top five in 2018 guaranteed. So they should have a shot at one.
The Browns may have missed out on Wentz or Goff, but now they have a chance to do it the right way. Taking the best player available and not forcing a QB is the right thing to do. Sashi Brown should do it. Cleveland already has two awesome teams, they can build another if they do it the right way.
