Aroldis Chapman was traded to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for MLB pitcher Adam Warren, top Cubs prospect Gleyber Torres, and outfielders Billy McKinney and Rashad Crawford.
This is an obvious win now trade for the Cubs. Aroldis is on a deal which makes him a free agent after this season. The trade fills a vitals need for the Cubs in the bullpen and gives them a closer that is as close to shutdown as there is in the game.
The haul that the Cubs gave up is HUGE those are some of their top prospects but for a team that is in a great place to win now, it seems like a great trade to me. As I always like people to think, prospects don't always pan out so you can't get too emotionally attached to them.
*Remeber the Red Sox once traded their top prospects , future stud Casey Kelly to the Padres along with an average power hitting first baseman Anthony Rizzo for Adrian Gonzales. (Obviously the trade wasn't good for either side). It just shows that not even the best prospects end up being superstars.
Good move for the Cubs. NL, watch out!
