Final: Bruins 1, Leafs 4
So not what I was hoping for. A couple glaring issues. But first anyone catch that Jack Edwards piece with Marchand? Talking about how he's a changed player? That's funny because the guy takes two penalties within 5 minutes and spends almost half the opening period in the box. Yikes. I don't want to get on Brad too much because he didn't play half bad but I mean coming off of a 5 point game I think we all expected more.
The Negatives:
Someones needs to walk into that locker room and tell them it isn't 2011. We aren't bullies anymore. Krug kept embarrassing himself when he tried to assert himself physically. He got BURNED by a shoulder shake move by Connor Brown and it just looked bad. Backes and Kadri go at it and fine whatever they fought last year and it was cool to see him drop the gloves in our uniform. But that Chara fight? Man I get it there is under 10 to go and you are trying to spark the team but buddy didn't even drop his gloves right away.... he was probably like "dude I'm not trying to fight a dinosaur in a game that I'm winning by 3". Goalie play wasn't actually horrible. It was bad but the tip in goal is a tough save for anyone and the first one by Brown was an unlucky scramble out front that didn't go their way. What I'm confused about is why Rask didn't play. He is a starting goalie right? He's not a pitcher who needs 4 days rest, or he isn't supposed to be. Why couldn't he play? Odd. Offense applied a lot of pressure but we weren't helped by the trillion penalties we took. Pasta scored! If there is a silver lining it's that he is poised to have a breakout year.
The Positives:
There weren't many. Pasta played with some fire. Yeah. That was cool. Listen we aren't going to win every game. It's not football. We don't only have 14 more games. We may be 1-1-0 but we have 80 to go and I'm optimistic for the rebound game on Monday against the Jets.
